Mad Macka Character Analysis

Mad Macka is an abalone diver. Every year, he comes to Longboat Bay in his yellow boat to dive for abalone. He’s friendly, fond of Blueback, and careful not to take too many abalone from the seabed. Even though it’s dangerous to dive without a partner, Macka prefers to work alone. One day, when Abel Jackson is 12 years old, Macka dies while diving in the bay, likely from suffering a heart attack underwater.
