Boy Overboard: Chapter 31 Summary & Analysis

Summary
Analysis
Jamal dreams he is playing on Dubbo Abattoirs United, an Australian football team. In the dream, he has the ball, the sun is shining, his parents are there, and everything is good. The goalposts are even made of gold, and the crowd is cheering him on. He wakes up to Bibi screaming against his chest. When he looks up, he understands why: a huge wave is falling on them.
As is often the case when he is under great stress, Jamal dreams of an idyllic future for him and his family. Having just been raided and abandoned by the pirates, Jamal clearly yearns to escape from the reality he is living in—one that seems to be getting more dangerous by the minute.
