Cloud Atlas

by

David Mitchell

Mrs. Noakes is a nurse at Aurora House, the nursing home where Timothy Cavendish gets trapped while trying to escape Dermot Hoggins’s brothers. She is cruel and uses her minor position of authority to control the lives of the nursing home residents, and she drugs anyone who tries to stop her. She demonstrates how people can abuse power not just in politics but in personal life and business as well.
