Dame Larin Character Analysis

Dame Larin is the wife of Dmitry Larin and mother of Tatyana and Olga. Although she loved another man when she married Dmitry, she has since tried to make the best of it. Despite her own experience being forced into marriage, she does the same when she relocates the family to Moscow to get Tatyana married, reflecting how courtship traditions get passed down through generations, sometimes by coercion.

Her fiancé—against her will!

Had someone else for whom she pined—

She found a great deal more appealing;
This Grandison was fashion’s pet,
A gambler and a guards cadet.
