Analysis
Poe helps Stella choose her outfit for her date in the atrium with Will. Poe laughs when Stella suggests a pair of silk boxers—her only other options are sweatpants. Instead of wishing she were in Cabo, Stella wishes her friends were with her at the hospital. Stella wears the boxers and a tank top as she enters the atrium. She reminisces on all the formative experiences she’s had at the hospital over the years. Will compliments her when he sees her, and Stella holds the pool cue between them. They both hold one end.
Stella has spent a lot of time over the last few weeks checking her friends’ social media accounts to see what they were doing in Cabo, so it’s a huge milestone that she no longer feels like she’s missing out. Instead, she is creating a valuable experience for herself within the confines of the hospital. Previously, Stella would never do something as risky as a date with Will, but now she has less fear and anxiety around her illness.
