Samuel Seabury Character Analysis

Samuel Seabury was a well-known Loyalist in New York City; both historically and in the show, he was one of Hamilton’s leading rivals in the early years of the war. In the musical, he is depicted as being out of touch and ridiculously mannered. While Seabury sings the praises of the British to the tune of Bach-inspired harpsichord, Hamilton raps over him, using his own words against him (“Farmer Refuted”).
