Summary
Analysis
In the present, Machado still dreams about the woman from the Dream House even though seven years have passed. In many of the dreams, she hears footsteps and runs to hide from them, but there are monsters in her way. She’s terrified of waking up and finding that the woman has followed her out of the dream.
No matter how far in space and time Machado travels from the Dream House, it still haunts her, suggesting that her trauma is a permanent part of her psychological makeup.
