Dr. Shinebone is a character in Paul Sheldon’s Misery series. In Misery’s Child, Geoffrey does not reach the doctor in time for him to save Misery’s life. In Misery’s Return, it is revealed that Dr. Shinebone mistakenly pronounced Misery—and another young woman, Miss Charlotte Evelyn-Hyde—dead when they were actually in a trancelike state. This error caused both women to be buried alive.
