Primus
Septimus is the eighty-first Lord of Stormhold’s seventh son. He has a “vacant” look to him, but the narrator describes this look as deceptive: Septimus is the most cunning and the most ruthless of all his brothers. Following his father’s death, Septimus quickly murders Tertius and attempts to murder Primus, though Morwanneg kills Primus before Septimus gets the chance. This means that Septimus is duty bound to avenge Primus’s death before becoming the next lord of Stormhold—and Morwanneg kills him before he can assume his role.

“And then there’s the matter of revenge,” said Secundus, in the voice of the wind howling through the pass. “You must take revenge upon your brother’s killer before anything else, now. It’s blood-law.”
As if he had heard them, Septimus shook his head. “Why could you not have waited just a few more days, brother Primus?” [...] “And now I must revenge your sad carcass, and all for the honor of our blood and the Stormhold.
