Trampita is Francisco’s younger brother. When Francisco is around five years old, he is left to care for Trampita, who is a baby at this time, while Mamá, Papá, and Roberto go to work in the fields. Francisco doesn’t like this arrangement and longs to be grown up enough to work in the fields, too. This situation also highlights the hard decisions the family has to make since Francisco’s parents are forced to leave a baby in the care of a young child since they both have to work to earn money.
