The Furies/The Kindly Ones Character Analysis

The Furies are a group of three monsters who work for Hades. They assume the form of winged, fanged, leathery creatures, though they sometimes take more human forms (often of old women). Individuals at Camp Half-Blood often refer to them as The Kindly Ones so as to not attract them, as naming a monster can summon it. Though the Furies terrify Percy at first, when he returns Hades’s helmet to the Furies, Percy sees that the Furies are just doing their job—somehow, they don’t seem quite as monstrous anymore.
