The leader of the Gladers, Alby is the oldest and most trusted teenager in the Glade. Despite Alby’s merciless enforcement of the strict laws of the Glade, he is a competent leader capable of inspiring loyalty and bravery in the other Gladers. After going through the Changing and learning about the devastations that have struck the outside world, Alby becomes withdrawn and loses his will to lead. Unable to confront the realities waiting for him outside the Glade, Alby sacrifices himself to the Grievers in a desperate attempt to protect his friends.
