According to Herakles’s grandmother’s story, Lava Man was the sole survivor of the 1923 volcanic eruption and decimated Hades. Lava Man was imprisoned in a local jail at the time of the eruption. Although he survived, the disaster left him badly scarred, and he spent the remainder of his life touring with the circus, purporting to be “molten matter returned from the core of the earth to tell […] interior things.”
