Hillary Clinton is an American political figure who served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State; a U.S. senator; and the First Lady of the U.S. during her husband, Bill Clinton’s, presidency. She ran against Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election and lost, an outcome that shocked many people. Wilkerson argues that Clinton’s loss in spite of her qualifications for the office was a side effect of the dominant caste’s fear of losing power to the subordinate caste following Barack Obama’s presidency.
