Jens Peter Jacobsen was a Danish writer who lived from 1847 to 1885. He is known for popularizing the Naturalist literary movement in Denmark. Rainer Maria Rilke admired his writing, taking a special interest in his novel Niels Lyhne and a collection of his short stories.
