A beautiful, intelligent Hungarian woman imprisoned in Birkenau with Anja, who passes news and letters between the Vladek and Anja during their time in the camp. After the evacuation of Birkenau, Mancie keeps Anja close and protects her. Vladek tries to find Mancie after the war, to express his gratitude for her help, but he never discovers what happened to her.
