1. A few hours later, Uno, Danny, Sofia, and Liberty are at Sofia’s house. It’s Danny’s last night in National City. They eat dinner and drink boxed wine out of coffee mugs while Uno tells the story of Danny hitting Barker. Sofia jokingly compares Danny to Ray, and Danny firmly retorts that he’s not like his uncle. Uno wonders if Danny is actually thinking about Danny's dad instead of Ray. Uno says Senior is letting him move to Oxnard even though he hasn’t made $500, and Sofia announces that she’s spending a school term with Danny in Leucadia. Uno and Danny say goodbye to the girls, and Liberty and Danny kiss.
Danny suddenly rejects the idea that he is similar to Javier and Ray, even though he used to wish he could be just like them. Danny seems confident in his identity for the first time. Mirroring Danny’s newfound optimism, both Uno and Sofia are now empowered to create better futures for themselves.
