After his stay in the monastery, Larry returns to Paris before going to Spain. In Spain, Larry meets a woman who has a child and begins living with her. The two stay together until she returns to her boyfriend, who had been serving in the military. After Spain, Larry travels to India.
After leaving the monastery, Larry’s search for spiritual insight seems to have stalled again, and he returns to a somewhat routine existence. Still, he doesn’t seem satisfied with that kind of life and soon leaves for India to continue his pursuit of meaning.
