Henry Boyd Character Analysis

Henry Boyd is Suzanne’s father and Melinda’s grandfather. He is strict and has an explosive temper. When Marv attempts to meet Melinda, Henry assaults him. Both Ed and Marv demonstrate their courage by standing up to Henry. Ed can recognize that despite Henry’s faults, he is also suffering, which reveals the empathy Ed has developed throughout the novel. Suzanne eventually runs away from Henry, taking Melinda with her.
