Minor Characters
Davey
Davey is one of Johnny’s friends. He is often seen with Lee. He has an inquisitive mind and is more likely to believe Johnny’s stories than anyone else. Like Johnny, he also does not like the way an increasingly industrialized England has pushed out small, rural communities.
Parsons
Parsons is a representative of the local government. She and Fawcett show up to Johnny’s trailer twice to warn him about vacating the area. She seems to take pleasure in irritating Johnny and ultimately forcing him off his property.
Fawcett
Fawcett is Parsons’s partner and also a representative of the local government. Like Parsons, he seems to take pleasure in getting rid of Johnny.
Troy Whitworth
Troy Whitworth is Phaedra’s stepfather. He is a hateful man, and Johnny accuses him of sexually abusing Phaedra. In response to Johnny’s accusation, Troy and two other local men assault Johnny and brand Xs on both sides of his face.
Pea
Pea is a teenage girl who is friends with Tonya. She and Tonya party with Johnny and sleep under his trailer the night before the fair. Pea is a generally well-intentioned girl who enjoys listening to Johnny’s stories and having a good time.
Tanya
Tanya is a local teenage girl who is friends with Pea. She enjoys hanging around Johnny’s trailer and partying with the rest of the local outcasts.
Marky
Marky is Johnny’s son. He is a fairly reserved child, though Johnny encourages him to act out and live life on his own terms.
Dawn
Dawn is Johnny’s ex-girlfriend and Marky’s mother. Although she is a better parent to Marky than Johnny, she still uses cocaine with Johnny before taking Marky to the fair.
Frank
