Yin Lan-lan
Yang Fan is an elementary school classmate of Ji-li, An Yi, Du Hai, Yin Lan-lan, Zhang Jie, and Deng Yi-yi. When the class elects her to join the Red Successors, she follows Du Hai’s and Yin Lan-lan’s leads. She helps them persecute Ji-li, even though Ji-li showed her great kindness in the past, helping her out when she broke her leg. Yang Fan’s change of heart illustrates the pressures to conform to Party ideology during the Cultural Revolution.
