Linus Van Wyck Character Analysis

Linus Van Wyck is a young White man who befriends and lives with Freddie for several years. As a member of the prominent Van Wyck family and heir to their real estate empire, Linus relies on generational wealth to support his hedonistic lifestyle and drug addiction. Linus’s family—in particular his father, Ambrose—exert abusive control over him, sending him to sanatoriums to correct his homosexual behavior. His attempt to steal from his own family shows Carney that crime occurs across all social classes.
