Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia Character Analysis

La Guardia was the real-life mayor of New York City from 1934–1945. He was half-Jewish and half-Italian. Though a registered Republican, La Guardia was a pro-New Deal progressive who instituted major reforms in Depression-era New York. A staunch denouncer of fascism and Nazism, La Guardia is an ally to American Jews during a time of anti-Semitic conflict and violence when he appears in the latter half of The Plot Against America.
