Boy

by

Roald Dahl

Corkers is the mathematics teacher at the Repton School. Lazy and eccentric, Corkers thinks of elaborate plans to entertain his classes without actually teaching them mathematics. One of Corkers’s favorite stunts is to declare that someone has farted, insist upon the class airing out the room, and then to leave for the rest of the day while his students are occupied. Corkers is one of the rare Masters that Roald mentions who doesn’t seem at all interested in discipline or authority.
