Williamson Character Analysis

Williamson is an older student and “Boazer” (an older student who has authority over younger students) at the Repton School. He’s also a star athlete, which makes him physically imposing. When Williamson beats the younger boys under his care, the other students often admire his skill in aiming his strikes at exactly the same spot every time. Similarly to his observations of the sadism of Mrs. Pratchett, Captain Hardcastle, and Mr. Coombes, Roald swears that he notices a sense of pride in Williamson as he looks at the marks he’s left on a boy’s bottom.
