The Shell Director Character Analysis

The Shell Director is a senior employee of Shell, where Roald works after graduation. The Director tries to place Roald in Egypt, but Roald begs to be sent to Africa or Asia so that he can pursue his fanciful dreams of elephants and adventure. The Director is annoyed, but he agrees to send someone else to Egypt. When he offers Roald a second placement in East Africa, Roald is overjoyed.
