Though ostensibly a Patriot general, Lee had close ties to many British soldiers and may have been working with the Redcoats during the American Revolution. He is most known for his disastrous retreat at the Battle of Monmouth. Suspecting that Lee had thrown the battle on purpose, Washington court-martialed him.
