Mahmoud’s brother, who lives in Amara, encourages Mahmoud to stay in Baghdad while the Mantis is still alive, in order to stay safe. However, he ultimately accepts Mahmoud’s decision to return to his hometown as violence escalates in Baghdad. He says that Mahmoud’s family does indeed miss him. In this way, he confirms that Mahmoud will be able to benefit from a warm, loving family environment after leaving the chaos of Baghdad.
