Good Night, Mr. Tom

by

Michelle Magorian

Son of Mrs. Fletcher and Mr. Fletcher, George is a Little Weirwold boy about William Beech’s age. Though his mother forces him to invite William blackberry picking at the beginning of their acquaintance, George, William, Zach, Carrie, and Ginnie soon become an inseparable fivesome. George likes singing in the church choir and investigating nature; he has no use for school, which sometimes leads him to squabble with the more intellectual Carrie.
