Greg Adams Character Analysis

Greg Adams is a racist bully at Maxine’s high school. Unlike Carlita, whose racist bullying is largely confined to insulting Maxine’s skin, Greg’s bullying is comprehensive and vicious, born from white supremacist ideology that advocates for the extermination of Australians of color. Greg doesn’t just harass Maxine, but all people of color at the school, including teachers of color. Although Greg’s abhorrent behavior wears Maxine down emotionally, the teachers at school do little to intervene, leaving Greg free to continue his reign of terror throughout the school until he leaves in the upper years.
