Grace Andrews Character Analysis

Grace Andrews is the woman Bruce marries as an adult. She is a zoology teacher whom Bruce meets while working as a lab technician. At the time of their marriage, Bruce is the happiest he’s ever been, but eventually things go south. Grace is disturbed by Bruce’s unfeigned attraction to her pregnant body—a legacy of his relationship with Eva, who was heavily pregnant the last time they had sex. Other stray signs, and finally Bruce’s unwillingness to discuss the newspaper clipping about Eva’s death that Grace finds in his possession, both Grace enough to feel that she and her daughters with Bruce are better off without him around. Bruce doesn’t begrudge Grace for the separation and uses it as a chance to reflect on his poor communication skills and whether he really is a “creep.”
