Aaron Character Analysis

Aaron is the preacher in Prentisstown who works closely with Mayor Prentiss to hold control over the settlement’s population. Aaron believes in a fire-and-brimstone style of preaching, and he’s not afraid to get violent, attacking Todd even before Todd flees Prentisstown. When Todd finally does flee Prentisstown, Aaron stalks him relentlessly. Aaron is so menacing that sometimes Todd even seems to hallucinate that he’s seeing Aaron when Aaron isn’t around. Ultimately, Aaron’s goal is to turn Todd into a killer, with Aaron willing to sacrifice his own life in order to corrupt Todd. Aaron represents how violence can be contagious, and his character demonstrates how dangerous people can be when they become zealots devoted to a cause.

And I fall back into it.
