Townhouse Character Analysis

Townhouse is a former inmate at Salina who worked alongside Emmett, Duchess, and Woolly. Townhouse is a young Black man and suffered racist abuse at Salina, which Duchess feels partly responsible for. Seeking to “settle his debt” to Townhouse, Duchess finds him in Harlem and requests Townhouse punch him. Townhouse complies, and he later helps Emmett track down Duchess’s location in New York. He also helps Emmett disguise the Studebaker after Duchess uses the car to flee multiple crime scenes.
