Analysis
Evan and Cassie sleep by the highway. Evan explains that when too many humans learn the truth of Wright-Patterson, they’ll shut it down, just like they did at Cassie’s old refugee camp. Evan says aloud what they’re both thinking—that infiltrating the camp will be like suicide. Cassie says there’s only one way in for her—alone, like Sammy did.
Both Ben and Cassie continue to keep insisting that they do things alone, even after learning how other people can make them stronger and make their lives richer. Although independence is an important part of survival, Cassie falls back on her old habit of trying to do everything herself.
