Summary
Analysis
Below Cassie, Ben, and Sammy, they hear explosions, presumably from Evan, and the ground starts to collapse. The drones above them start falling down. As they all run, Cassie falls. Someone comes by in a Humvee and tries to pick up Ben and Sammy. But instead, Ben goes back for Cassie. The ground around Cassie starts collapsing, but Ben pulls her up and into the Humvee. Above them, they think they see a drone dropping toward the horizon, but whatever it is, it looks like a falling star.
The ground collapsing underneath Cassie and Ben is a representation of how their old lives and the world they knew are crumbling beneath them. Although they are in danger, there’s also something hopeful about the destruction, which marks the end of Camp Haven. The surprise arrival of the helpful Humvee is a sign again of how people are stronger when they work together rather than trying to be heroes on their own.
