Lucy Fisher Character Analysis

Lucy Fisher is the social worker assigned to Nuri and Afra once they make it to the UK. Practical, efficient, and compassionate, Lucy Fisher handles the couple’s paperwork and coaches them on their upcoming asylum interview. Nuri likes her but is nervous about the limits of her influence. Lucy Fisher comforts Nuri after a panic attack and after his asylum interview, urging him not to give up hope. Her character illustrates the all-too-common occurrence of well-meaning people being limited by the confines of compassionless bureaucracy.
