Summary
Analysis
Jimmie keeps walking and tripping and falling. She hears words repeating in her head and covers her ears, and suddenly, she’s afraid. Her front door is locked, and she needs help. She can’t reach the window to shimmy inside. Maybe she can sleep for a bit and then be able to do it. She can’t remember if she saw Subhi and if they read a story. Her mum’s book is also missing. Jimmie realizes she’s holding a flashlight, and she remembers that two flashes means she needs help. She flashes it a few times before it falls out of her hand. Nobody responds, and there’s nobody to help her. Jimmie’s eyes close.
Jimmie is seriously unwell and needs help. Like Subhi, she doesn’t currently have any adults nearby to help her due to her dad’s job that takes him away for days at a time. Still, even in this state, she clings to her mum’s story and wants to draw comfort from it.
