Craig wakes up on the morning of what will be his last full day in the hospital. He showers and it goes cold, so he takes the first cold shower of his life. Smitty talks with him afterwards, warning that Blade II had better not give the other patients nightmares. Craig also asks about playing music when he leaves and promises that it won’t be anything inappropriate.
The cold shower might seem to be a bad sign—that reality outside the hospital will be a rude awakening for Craig—but he takes this minor inconvenience in stride, showing how his time in the hospital has made him more mentally resilient.
