A Game of Thrones

A Game of Thrones

by

George R. R. Martin

Mycah is a friend of Arya’s who she meets during the trip from Winterfell to King’s Landing after Ned becomes the Hand of the King. Mycah is the son of a butcher, and Arya’s decision to befriend him shows the lack of importance she places in Westeros’s strict socioeconomic hierarchy. Arya and Mycah are practicing sword fighting when Joffrey sees them and threatens Mycah. A fight ensues, and Arya and Mycah run. The Hound, Joffrey’s personal bodyguard, ultimately kills Mycah, which contributes to Arya’s hatred for the Lannisters.
