Summary
Analysis
Arsenal ties Aston Villa in an exciting away game, and it’s one of the best nights of Nick’s life. At the rematch a few months later, Arsenal loses, and Nick is devastated. He realizes that his mood is too dependent on Arsenal—he relies on the team when he’s feeling down, hoping they will remind him that things can always improve. Nick now feels that all Arsenal shows him is the opposite.
Nick constantly swings between feeling like Arsenal helps him through tough times and feeling that they make him miserable. Both are true at different periods in his life. Realizing that his mood is too reliant on football is a positive step he takes towards confronting his unhealthy obsession.
