Fever Pitch

by

Nick Hornby

Jonathan is Nick’s half-brother from his father’s second marriage. Nick and Jonathan meet for the first time when Nick visits France as a teenager. Jonathan is a young child at the time, but Nick sees himself in his younger half-brother right away. Jonathan moves to England with his family when he is 13. Jonathan looks up to Nick and becomes an Arsenal fan due to Nick’s influence. They occasionally go to games together, and Nick notices that Jonathan is particularly enthralled by the violence that often erupts in the crowd during Arsenal games. Nick knows that this is harmful, and he feels responsible.
