Summary
Analysis
It’s very rare for any team to win the First Division Championship, so Nick never really expects that Arsenal will in his lifetime. This season, however, Arsenal is not far from the Championship, and Nick begins to have some hope. Arsenal’s game against Liverpool is their last chance at the Championship, and Nick and a friend watch it on TV. Arsenal wins, and Nick compares the moment to an orgasm and childbirth.
The First Division is the top division of the League at the time, so winning the Championship is the greatest feat a team can accomplish in England. Nick comparing Arsenal’s victory to childbirth once again drives home just how personally invested in the club he feels. His identity is so closely tied to Arsenal that their success has a profound impact on his life.
