Garcia Maria de Allande Character Analysis

Maria de Allande is a Spanish cardinal living in Rome. Maria de Allande holds a great deal of political power in the Catholic church, so Ferrand appeals directly to this astute young cardinal in his attempts to elevate Jean-Marie Latour to the status of bishop. Unlike Ferrand, Maria de Allande is able to balance his passion for church politics with an appreciation for more worldly pleasures.
