Death Comes for the Archbishop

Death Comes for the Archbishop

by

Willa Cather

Sacraments are sacred rituals in Catholicism, in which a priest or deacon helps bestow Jesus Christ’s grace upon parishioners. There are seven sacraments in total: the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist), the sacraments of healing (Penance and the Anointing of the Sick), and the sacraments at the Service of Communion (Marriage and Holy Orders). One of Latour and Vaillant’s main responsibilities in the founding of their new diocese is to travel around the area, bestowing sacraments on those who have not had contact with a priest in years.
