Señora Carson Character Analysis

Known only in the novel as Señora Carson, the real-life Kit Carson’s wife was named Josefa Jaramillo, the daughter of a prominent Taos family. Josefa and Carson had seven children together and were married for over 20 years. In Death Comes for the Archbishop, Señora Carson cares for Magdalena in the aftermath of her marriage to Buck Scales. She is also close friends with both Latour and Vaillant, and she advises Latour on how to deal with tricky priests like Antonio Jose Martínez and Marino Lucero.
